“Are you really happy? Or just really comfortable?”
I stumbled across this quote today. It was a quote that moved me, a quote that made me think “Am I happy? What could I improve to achieve my goals?” Comfort and happiness are two completely different things, one is lethal (comfort) and one is life-changing (happiness). The truth is, while we are on the path that life takes us on we encounter many “rest stops.” They’re there to take a break, to gather up our energy, and then to continue onto our grand final destination. And that is exactly what these “rest stops” were designed for, to stop and get it together to move on. However, they are not where we are supposed to end our journey. Our grand finale is so much better, and more important, than any break along the way, it is the place so many people miss because they settle for OK and stop reaching for great.
“A ship is always safe at the shore – but that is NOT what it is built for.” ~Albert Einstein
Life was not designed to always be easy. We were not made to just live, we were made to do our best to make an impact on the world, no matter how small. When we relax and say “Hey it’s not so bad here, I think I’ll stay put,” we make a mistake. There will always be achievements that feel great when they occur, but will never compare to that long term prize. So don’t stop. In the end you’ll look back and be glad you didn’t. When we settle, think we’ve gone as far as we can, or stop completely- we fail to get to the best part. The main goal is always just around the corner. The dream you’ve dreamt of since you were six is right there, but it vanishes when we give up and reside at the rest stops. Comfort is sometimes the worst thing. When we get comfortable we find it even more challenging to keep moving. The fear that things could get worse if you take a risk settles in. However risks are the key to success. No one great has ever stayed in their comfort zone, successful people take risks to reach their goals. Anyone can be successful, every one has the potential to be great. You have the ability to change the world. So, go out and change it and in the process you will be happy. Thanks for reading! Leave any comments or opinions in the comment section!
